Day Twenty

40 Days of Prayer.

We are halfway through our 40 days of prayer campaign. It feels fitting that through this unsettling time that we would be praying as a church. Please, continue to join us in praying.

I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!

Read: John 18

The Gospel of John goes into great detail of the final week of Jesus. He spends so much of his book looking at this week. In John 18 we find Jesus betrayed by His friend, denied by His best friend, and brought before fellow Jews to be murdered. In all of this, Jesus never lost sight of who He is and why He had come. But in this chapter a single verse has always hit me.

John 18:38 “Pilate said to Him, ‘What is truth?’”

Is this not the question that all of the world is asking right now? With outlandish media claims, social media, and all that is out there, is this not the question that everyone is asking? People are searching and wondering, what is truth? What is the point? In our culture, suicide rates are at an all time high. Depression, anxiety, mental illness is more prevalent than ever. Why? People don’t know where to place their hope.

As followers of Jesus we have tremendous hope. In the midst of a pandemic, we have hope. In the midst of great uncertainty, we have hope. You may face losing your job soon, you still have hope. Families will have to make hard decisions, but we still have hope. You may get sick, you still have hope. Should we not be telling others of this great hope?

Adoration– Praise God for revealing the true hope. Praise Him for showing the truth in His Word.

Confession- Confess to Him where you have lost hope. Confess to Him where you have denied Him in your life. Confess to Him where you have placed your trust in so many things.

Thanksgiving- Thank Him for the great hope that you have. Thank Him for revealing the truth to you. Thank Him for giving you great hope and courage in the midst of chaos.

Supplication- Pray for this pandemic to end. Pray for our brothers and sisters on the missions field. Pray for your leaders as we navigate how to love you and keep pointing you to Jesus through all of this. Pray for others to find this great truth.

I am praying for you and thankful. Miss being with you.

Aaron
