Day Nineteen

40 Days of Prayer.

I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!

Read: John 17

John 17 is a recorded prayer of Jesus. In this prayer we see the heart of Jesus, we see His concern for His disciples as well as future disciples. We see His obedience to the Father and His love for His people. The priestly prayer of Jesus should be a prayer that brings us tremendous hope and encouragement.

This prayer should also let us see the heart of Jesus for His bride. His heart was for the church to be unified. Jesus wanted to body of the church to be unified.

20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. – John 17:20-21

He was concerned that we would be one, that we would be unified. A healthy church is a unified church. In times like we are facing now, we must be a unified church. We must seek the Lord on each other’s behalf and we are going to need one another more and more. Now is the time for us as a body to show that unity. Now is the time that we will show our congregational love for one another. Keep persevering. Keep faithful.

Adoration– Praise God for unity in the church body. Praise Him for the church. Praise Him for loving you and adopting you into His family.

Confession- We must confess our selfishness. Church unity never happens when we are selfish. We must humble ourselves and seek not our own interests. We must serve one another, and seek the good for one another.

Thanksgiving- Thank Him for the body of believers you are part of. Thank Him for a leadership team that loves one another, that seeks the Lord, that wants what is best for our church.

Supplication- Pray for our church. Pray that we would remain faithful to the Gospel call. Pray that we would remain faithful to one another. That we would seek the welfare of our city. Pray that the Lord would show grace and allow us to come and fellowship in person again.

I am praying for you and thankful. Miss being with you.

Aaron
