Day Eighteen

40 Days of Prayer.

I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!

Read: John 16

In this passage Jesus goes into more depth of the work of the Holy Spirit. That the Holy Spirit would come into their lives and would change everything. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts of sin, it is the Holy Spirit that draws us to Christ, it is the work of the Holy Spirit that illuminates the Word of God to us.

After Jesus spoke to them about the comforter, He spoke to them about the trials that they would face, what was to come. With the power of the Holy Spirit within them, they would face death holding fast the the truth of Christ. The Holy Spirit is what allowed them to preserver to the end. We often don’t give much credit nor think about the Holy Spirit that much. We focus a lot on Jesus and the work of Christ, and rightly so, but we must never neglect the Holy Spirit.

Adoration– Praise God for sending the comforter. Praise Him for sending the one that convicts us of sin. Praise Him for the drawing power of the Holy Spirit.

Confession- It is the Spirit that convicts you of sin. What sin has the Holy Spirit convicted you of? What do you need to confess and repent of?

Thanksgiving- Thank Him for illuminating His Word to you. That you are growing in your understanding of God’s Word. Thank Him for a church that is established on the Word.

Supplication- Pray for God to continue to reveal His truth to you. Pray for your pastor, pray that he would be faithful to preach the truth of God’s Word. Pray that during these times we continue to be faithful to Him. Pray for our witness and for our boldness.

I am praying for you and thankful.

Aaron
