Day Thirteen

Day Thirteen.

I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!

Read: John 11

Here we find a story that really shows the power of Jesus Christ. Jesus finds His good friend Lazarus dead. Dead for four days. What is interesting to me is the conversation between Jesus and His disciples before they get to Lazarus. Look with me.

John 11:14-15 “Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

The miracle that Jesus performed on Lazarus was not like any other miracle. Jesus had healed the sick, multiplied food, turned water into wine. But this one was different. Lazarus had been dead for four days. The bible says that an odor was coming from his body. Decay had begun. Jesus said, “Lazarus! Come out!” With that command, Lazarus was brought from the grave! Friends, that is the essence of us! We were spiritually dead in our sin. Dead!

Ephesians 2:1 “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins.” That doesn’t say you were sick, you were dead! Jesus brought you to life! That should never get old to you and I. We’ve been brought to life, never to die again. Jesus would perform the miracle of raising from the grave that wonderful Easter morning. One that we will celebrate very soon. I hope that you take the time to pray for those that are spiritually dead in your life. The ones that need the Gospel. The ones that need hope.

Adoration– Praise God for bringing dead people alive! Praise God that He conquered the grave!

Confession- Confess to your Heavenly Father. Confess how you and I still hold onto our dead ways. Ephesians 2:2 says that we walked in following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. We still have tendencies to go back to living like dead people. Confess that.

Thanksgiving-  Thank God that you have been brought to life. Praise Him for that beautiful truth.

Supplication- Pray for our country, community, state, and our church. Pray that during this trying time that we can be lights. Pray for our president, our governor, local officials. Pray for our leaders. Pray most of all that God would be glorified. Pray for opportunity to share the Good news!

Thank you again.

Aaron
