Day Seven

Day Seven.

I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!

Read: John 5

John 5 is a wonderful text that tells us who Jesus is. We learn from this passage why we can believe that Jesus is who He says He is. John shows us the witnesses that attest to the life and ministry of Jesus. They are John the Baptist, Jesus miracles, and the Word of God. There is a passage that has always spoken to me.

John 5:39 “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me.”

Jesus is telling the Jews, you look to the scriptures for hope. You look and search for something else to bring you hope. The scriptures point to Me as the source of Hope and Salvation! We can often go to God’s Word and search for something that is not there. We can go there looking for scriptures to tell us that our lifestyle, our anger, our sin is ok. Scriptures were never intended to point in that direction. They point to Jesus, they point to salvation, they point to hope. Are you clinging to that hope today?

Adoration– Come to God and praise Him for His Word. That He gave us His truth so that we may have salvation. Praise Him for persevering His Word through the ages.

Confession- Confess to Him your sin. Confess the times that you’ve wanted His word to condone your own sinfulness. Confess to Him your idols and let Him heal you.

Thanksgiving- As believers we should be so thankful that we have God’s Word! We have it on our phones, tablets, computers, and leather bound. We have God’s Word abounding around us, it needs to be in us! Thank God for the ability to read His Word.

Supplication- Pray that SBC would continue to strive to be faithful to God’s Word. That in the face of opposition, we will remain faithful. God’s Word is truth, are you sharing that truth with others? Pray for boldness.

Thank you again.

Aaron
