I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!
Read: John 1
In the Gospel of John he begins right away with who Jesus is. We see that John starts off right away saying that Jesus is God. The depths of this truth never cease to amaze me. But in John 1 there is a few verses that should encourage our hearts.
John 1:12-13 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
This passage should be encouraging to you and I. That because we have received Him, we are children of God. What joy that brings, what hope, what peace. The reality of that truth never gets old, but should compel us. There are many that have not received Him. There are many in our lives and in our community that do not know the saving power of Christ. They are still in their sin, their pain, and their misery. The only hope they can have is not found in themselves, but in Christ. The message of the Gospel for believers should be one of encouragement and of burden. Encouragement that you have hope and life, burden that others do not. So will you join me in praying that truth today?
Adoration– Praise God for making the heavens and the earth. Praise Him for sending the Light into the world. Praise Him for the beauty of His Word.
Confession- Confess your fear of telling. If you are like me, confess your false hopes. It is so easy to try and hope in ourselves, this is idolatry. It is so easy to make everything about us. Confess that and repent of that. Confess your need for a savior.
Thanksgiving- Thank God for adopting you into His family. For giving your the right to be a child of God. This is not something that you deserve. This is not something that you earned. This is something that was freely given to you. This should lead you to worship. This should lead you to sing!
Supplication- Go to your LORD and seek Him. Ask Him to save your lost sheep. Ask Him to use you in this journey. Ask Him for revival in our community and in our church. Go to God in prayer for the lost that we will share the Gospel with. Pray!
