Day Two

Day Two.

I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!

Read: Luke 24

Everything has changed. For the men and women that had followed Jesus up to this point everything changed. They had followed Jesus and still followed the Jewish customs. But now everything is changed. Without the resurrection we have no Christianity, we have no savior, and as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:17-19 “17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.” This is our hope, our purpose, and our mission. We preach a savior resurrected. We pray to a living savior.

This should lead you to praise and thanksgiving. With a world that is changing around us. Culture is changing. Everything changes. I know for many of you this is a great fear for you. The fact that I used the word “change” brought tension in your heart. But take courage, Jesus is alive. Your hope is set on a message that does not change. Our hope is set on a truth that never changes, methods, culture, and everything else changes. Jesus doesn’t. This message is still the message of hope in our culture today. So I want you to pray.

Adoration- Praise God for creation, praise Him for a message that never changes. Praise Him for the wonderful good news of Christ!

Confession- Confess your fear, confess your pride, confess your angst, confess your idols. We all struggle with making new idols in our hearts, we must never stop confessing!

Thanksgiving- Thank God for what He is doing in our church and community. We are seeing change in our church and community, great change! The best change of all, people coming to know Him! God is blessing our church! Thank God for it! As pastor of SBC, I am so thankful God is showing blessing to us.

Supplication- Keep going to God for His blessing. Pray that God would continue to bless SBC. Pray specifically today for the leaders of our church. Pray that God would give us wisdom to keep going forward. We must continue to look ahead. I firmly believe the best days are yet to come, and they are coming now! Pray for your church, your family. Pray that on Easter Weekend we will see an outpouring of God’s Spirit!
