I am so thankful that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Over the next 40 days we are going to be looking at God’s Word and letting it guide our prayer. We believe that God has big things in store for SBC. God is going to use these next 40 days to challenge us and lead us to be a more faithful church. I hope that you will be prayerful and pray for big things!
Read: Luke 23
We start our journey by looking at the event that changed human history. This event is central to our faith. It’s the death and burial of Jesus Christ. Why do we look to this event? Why is this event so monumental to us? What does this event have to do with our prayer life?
The answer to all these questions is in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We look to this event that changed everything. Upon the cross Jesus bore our sin. Upon that bloody cross Jesus paid our penalty for our sin. The wrath of God was satisfied in Him. This is monumental because this paid the way so that you and I could be justified. That when Jesus resurrected He sealed our adoption. Because of these great truths we can now approach our Heavenly Father with boldness. We can go to Him in prayer and know that He hears us. We look to the cross and praise God for it. We praise Him that our Savior died. We praise Him that He justified us. We praise Him that He hears us.
Because of that great truth, won’t you now turn to Him in prayer and praise? Think of your lost sheep, that person that is closest to you and furthest from God. Will you now go to the throne on their behalf? Will you begin to pray that they would trust in Christ? Go to Him, run to Him, seek Him!
If you don’t know how to pray, I suggest you use the acrostic ACTS.
Adoration- Praise for who God is. Creator and Lord.
Confession- Repent of your sin. Confess it to Him.
Thanksgiving- Your sin is paid for on the cross. You have so much to be thankful for.
Supplication- Pray for your lost sheep.
Look forward to more emails everyday as we journey in this prayer time together.
