Romans 16:1-2 “I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, 2 that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well.”
In this chapter we are introduced to different folks who have served and assisted the church in different ways. One of the people we meet is a lady named Phoebe. In looking at Mother’s Day, we should look at women like this and see them as the inspiration that they ought to be. Phoebe, likely the individual that delivered this letter to the Roman church. She is a servant of the church, she was known for her serving and sacrifice for the church.
When we see women leading in the church in remarkable ways, we should not hinder their serving, rather encourage them to remain true to the Word of God, how He has gifted them, and bless them in their work. I know that in many circles, we see churches holding women back for fear of allowing a woman to “preach”. Churches can’t operate out of fear, their is so much women can do to serve the church, God has gifted her, allow her to serve. Yes she cannot be an Elder of the church, but she can serve in leadership, she can teach, she can share ideas, etc. Encourage her.
